Who We Are

Sunshine Coast Tourism (SCT) is a non-profit destination marketing organization (DMO) that was established in 2008 to promote British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast as a premier travel destination.  Our team builds brand awareness and advocacy for the entire region—from Howe Sound to Desolation Sound—with bold, inspiring, and engaging marketing campaigns that motivate people to visit the Sunshine Coast.

Who We Represent

We represent the entirety of both the qathet Regional District and the Sunshine Coast Regional District, including the municipalities within - the City of Powell River, the District of Sechelt, and the Town of Gibsons. As a non-profit, we are supported by our 350+ stakeholders (businesses and organizations) within the Sunshine Coast’s tourism industry as well as our local, provincial, and Indigenous governments who all see the value of building a sustainable tourism economy and working together to market the Sunshine Coast in a way that no one business or community could achieve individually.

Governance

We are led by a volunteer Board of Directors and managed by a small team of passionate and dedicated staff.  Our 11-member Board is structured to ensure a balance of voices across the region, ensuring geographic representation from both the upper and lower Sunshine Coast as well as sub-sectors within the tourism industry, including accommodations, recreation, and arts and culture.  Additionally, we have two standing committees, one for the Powell River/qathet and Texada Island area, and one for the southern Sunshine Coast from Gibsons to Egmont. These committees have dedicated seats for local government and First Nations liaisons, and additional representation from the tourism industry.
