South Coast
The Southern Sunshine Coast is perfect for quick getaways and extended vacations alike. Even though the Sunshine Coast is part of the BC mainland, you can only get here by ferry, boat, or air. It’s just a 40-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver to the Langdale ferry terminal near Gibsons. There are also short flights to Sechelt available from downtown Vancouver, Vancouver International Airport in Richmond, and Vancouver Island.
Highway 101 winds through the communities of Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay & Secret Cove, Pender Harbour, and Egmont. There are also a number of small islands that can only be reached by ferry or water taxi. Each community is unique—consider booking accommodations in multiple communities during your stay, or venture out on some day trips for a chance to explore the South Coast more fully.
Looking to extend your trip? Spend a few days on the Northern Sunshine Coast to add an extra layer of adventure. Take a scenic flight to Powell River or hop on the ferry at Earls Cove near Egmont—the 50-minute ferry ride to Saltery Bay is full of beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and forests.
