This year’s Canada Day is sure to be a big one! If you are planning a trip to the Sunshine Coast, but are not sure what to do or where to go to check out the festivities, we have compiled a convenient list of all your options.


  • There will be a historical Walking Tour of the Gibsons Landing, presented by the Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives. Local historian Dale Peterson will lead a walking tour (rain or shine!) of Gibsons Landing that explores the fascinating history of the ocean-side village. The tour will last approximately 90 minutes. People under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Pioneer Park next to the Gibsons Visitor Centre. Cost is by donation.   • There will also be family style entertainment at the Winegarden Waterfront Park
  • Open House and Bag of Books Sale – Fill a GPAG bag with gently used quality books and attend GPAG’s Open House, marking the opening of the ‘Sunshine Coast Pavilion’ exhibition that runs to July 30 cost is $10, presented by the Gibsons Public Art Gallery


This is where the bulk of the celebrations will be taking place on the South Coast, and there are plenty of options to choose from here! Sechelt will be hosting tons of events, dispersed throughout the community. THE PARADE WILL BE STARTING AT 10:30AM ON COWRIE STREET WITH A FLYOVER BY THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIRFORCE.
