Farmers' Markets on the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is home to a wide variety of Farmers’ Markets. Throughout the year, you’ll find an abundance of markets selling farm fresh produce, locally-raised meats, tasty treats, and artisan crafts from the farmers, growers, bakers, and makers who call the coast home. 

So, the next time you’re visiting the Sunshine Coast, grab a tote bag, head to a market and load up on all manner of edible items and locally made goods.

Gibsons Farmers' Market at Persephone Brewing

Spread out on Persephone's 11-acre beer farm, the weekly Gibsons Farmers' Market is home to a number of local vendors, selling mostly fresh, in-season produce, along with some crafts and local foods like jams, honey, and preserves. After visiting the vendors, grab a pint from the brewery to enjoy on one of the outdoor picnic tables and spend a leisurely afternoon in the sun.

Gambier Island Farmers' Market

The Gambier Island Farmers' Market takes shape as a market crawl, as vendors set up at the end of their driveways along Vanguard Avenue, Gambier Road, Dulcie Road, and Shawanabe Road. Pick up island-grown and -made products such as seeds, plants, freshly picked flowers, eggs, local produce, pastries, and more. This is a true community event where you'll get the chance to meet the people who call this island home. Keep in mind Gambier is only accessible by boat (or BC Ferries) and has very limited amenities, so if you do plan to visit make sure you bring enough cash (and the gear you need for the day) with you before you depart.

Roberts Creek Community Farm Market

The Roberts Creek Community Farm Market operates year-round, but summer is an especially bountiful time to visit. Located next to the historic Robert’s Creek Community Hall, this bustling market features items like fresh produce, jams, jellies, honey, hot sauces, chocolate, and more. Stock up on goodies, then wander down the road to the Roberts Creek mandala to enjoy a seaside picnic.

Davis Bay Farmer's Market

Focused mostly on fresh local food, the Davis Bay Farmer's Market aims to be eco-friendly and encourage biodiversity. In addition to fresh produce, you can also find locally made beverages, books, and bath products. Join them on Saturday afternoons outside the Davis Bay Community Hall, just a short walk from Davis Bay beach.

Sechelt Farmers' and Artisans' Market

This is the largest outdoor market on the Sunshine Coast. For 25 years, the Sechelt Farmers' and Artisans' Market has been a mainstay of the community, home to more than 60 vendors who set up shop along Cowrie Street each week, selling hyper-local goods, preserves, crafts, flowers, meat, seafood, beer and spirits, and of course farm-direct and garden-fresh produce. This market is also where you'll find ready-to-eat meals by talented cooks on the coast, such as pierogies, falafels, hummus and tabouleh, South Asian specialties, and more.

Uptown Midweek Market / Uptown Winter Market

The Uptown Market is a year-round farmers' market held outside the Powell River Community Resource Centre (next to the Powell River Visitor Centre). You’ll often find fresh produce, delicious baked goods, flowers, and an assortment of unique, locally made goods. Rain or shine, this market is always a lot of fun and makes a great addition to your plans.

Hours: May - September on Wednesday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm; October - April on Saturday from 10am-noon

Powell River Farmers' Market

Tucked away in a picturesque park (in the aptly named Paradise Valley), the Powell River Farmers' Market is where vendors, community members, and visitors come together to enjoy the community's deep agricultural traditions. You'll often find live music, and of course, plenty of diverse vendors selling all kinds of tasty homemade treats, crafts, goods, and wares. Most people linger long after the market closes, so make sure to carve out enough time to enjoy this lively community event.

Bonus: Public Markets

Gibsons Public Market

The Gibsons Public Market is a year-round mainstay of the community, home to vendors selling fish, zero-waste groceries (think bulk items and organic produce), cheese, meats, and more. On the market's upper floor, you'll also find the Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre (great for families), and Emmelle's Bistro, where you can grab a bite to eat in the sunny atrium.

Townsite Public Market

Located in Powell River, the Townsite Public Market is a year-round indoor market that spans two floors. You'll find a mix of shops, including a deli, Hearth & Grain Bakery, and a grocery store, along with stores selling handmade clothing, gift items, knitting supplies, and more. Keep an eye out for pop-up vendors selling artisan wares.
