Winter Activities
Dakota Ridge on the Lower Sunshine Coast (accessed via Field Road in Wilson Creek) is a 1,532 acre plateau featuring 13 kilometres of world class cross country ski trails (classic and skate) and 8 kilometres of snowshoe trails. The trails wind through old growth forests and open areas in a beautiful sub-alpine setting.
Topping out at 1,200 metres, amazing views of the Coast Mountains, Vancouver Island, and Georgia Straight capture the magic of the Sunshine Coast.

Dakota Bowl
Accessed via Port Mellon Hwy. near Howe Sound Pulp & Paper, Dakota Bowl is popular with more advanced skiers and has telemark routes on the north side of the bowl and spectacular views of Vancouver Island, North Shore mountains and Mt. Baker in Washington State. These are not well-developed areas, therefore it is recommended you contact the
Visitor Info Centres for more information.
Tetrahedron Provincial Park
A favourite of summertime hikers and winter snowshoers, this 60 sq.km. park offers amazing ocean and mountain views, 10 freshwater lakes and 4 wilderness cabins. The Upper Sunshine Coast region has a fabulous area where you can enjoy Winter activities. Tobogganing, Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing are only a short distance from the major community of Powell River in the Knuckleheads Recreation Area.
