


Lower Sunshine CoastHOWE SOUND TO EARLS COVE
The lower Sunshine Coast stretches 100 km (63 mi) along the Pacific Ocean from Port Mellon on Howe Sound to Earls Cove on Jervis Inlet, with the seaside communities of Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Wilson Creek, Davis Bay, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay, Secret Cove, Pender Harbour and Egmont in between. This main map gives an overview of the lower Sunshine Coast. Major spots of interest are identified with a map grid reference, and are also highlighted with written details in the margins of the map. Other helpful information includes lists of top dive sites, major mountain bike and hiking trails, provincial park facilities and local tourism businesses. The inset maps (below) of three major business and recreational areas will make sure you can find your way around, and provide details on activities, tours, accommodation and dining information specifically for each area. Gibsons and Area MapGIBSONS AREA MAP - PORT MELLON TO ROBERTS CREEK
The Gibsons area is the entry point for the lower Sunshine Coast, with the BC Ferries terminal at Langdale. The nearby islands of Keats and Gambier offer hiking, sandy beaches and a marine park. In Gibsons, hike Soames Hill for spectacular views across Howe Sound, discover the harbourside Landing area, and visit Ocean Beach Esplanade for swimming, fishing and picnics. The trails in Cliff Gilker Park in Roberts Creek lead through Douglas Fir forest, past waterfalls and across rustic bridges, and the village itself is a welcoming haven with a lovely beach and pier with driftwood benches. Sechelt and Area MapSECHELT AREA MAP - WILSON CREEK TO SECRET COVE
Sechelt is the largest town on the lower Coast and home to the Sechelt Indian Band. Davis Bay is one of the most scenic spots on Hwy. 101 with its wide expanse of beach and seawalk. The Sunshine Coast Arts Centre is a unique log building that features the work of many talented local artists. The Rockwood Centre is a restored heritage building with lovely gardens that is home to the annual Festival of the Written Arts. HMCS Chaudiere, a sunken submarine tracker, is one of the most popular dive spots on the Pacific coast. There are many great places to hike here, and a favourite easy trail is the Sechelt Heritage Forest. Secret Cove is popular for fishing and paddling, and has protected deep moorage and marinas. Pender Harbour & AreaPENDER HARBOUR AREA MAP - MADEIRA PARK TO EGMONT
There are a number of tiny communities in the area of Pender Harbour, including Madeira Park, Garden Bay and Irvines Landing. The sea is the main focus here, with marinas, fishing and boat charters, paddling and some great resorts, pubs and restaurants. Francis Point Marine Park is a famed diving spot and Garden Bay Marine Park offers secure anchorage, salmon fishing and a steep hike up Mt. Daniel. Camping and swimming are available at Katherine Lake, and Ruby Lake Lagoon Bird Sanctuary preserves the natural habitat for many bird species. The Suncoaster Trail winds through this area and is suitable for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Dan Bosch Park on Ruby Lake has a sandy swimming beach, picnic tables and a short hiking trail. Good trout fishing can be found at Klein Lake. This map is available for view. Egmont AreaThe tiny community of Egmont has few shops and services, but it is rich in scenic splendour. It is the stepping-off point for two of the Coast's most sublime natural experiences: Skookumchuck Narrows and Princess Louisa Inlet. Earls Cove is where you catch the ferry for the upper Sunshine Coast and Powell River.
