Canada's longest hut to hut hiking trail.

Have you hiked any of the Sunshine Coast Trail yet?  Located in the Powell River area, its Canada's longest hut-to-hut hiking trail, stretching over 180km of beautiful landscapes, from coastal shorelines, along creeks and lakes, through old growth forests to panoramic mountaintops.  It provides hikers with the opportunity to experience Powell River’s breathtaking backcountry with its rich fauna and flora.  Did we mention its FREE too?  If you aren't ready to tackle the whole trail, there are many access points allowing hikers to explore smaller sections, or via one extraordinary multi-day hiking vacation! Huts dot the trail at stunning locations and make for an interesting day hike, or a secure overnight experience. For hiking guides, trip planning, maps, and more, visit sunshinecoast-trail.com

The Sunshine Coast Trail stretches from Sarah Point in Desolation Sound, across Powell River, and all the way down to Saltery Bay. There are currently 12 huts along the trail that are "first-come, first-sleep".  Many have surrounding tent sites nearby, just in case.  Furthermore, three of the higher elevation huts are winterized making the Sunshine Coast Trail accessible year around.
